Cliff Lee Shocks the Baseball World
The shock of the Baseball off season happened Monday December thirteenth. Cliff Lee is going back to the Philies, instead of going back to the expected million dollar contracts of the Yankees and Rangers. During the off season, everyone thought the only teams that could get Lee were the New York Yankees or the Texas Rangers. With only rumors that the Phillies were interested in getting Lee back, Lee out of nowhere agreed to come back to the Phillies.
The Phillies now have Halladay, Lee, Oswalt and Hamels as their rotation, that rotation is mind blowing. This by far makes the Phillies the front runner for the World Series. Yes, Giants fans will say they won against Lee and Halladay; however, they didn't have to play against them in a single series. This is a shock that Lee went to the Phillies, but lets break this down. I am betting he didn’t like the way New York is run, in how they throw the most money at a player and say you better sign with us. In my opinion, the main reason Lee didn't sign with the Yankees is that they insulted his wife; and Lee seems to continuously appear to be a family person. The boorish comment made by the Yankees fans would be more offensive and taken to heart when making his decision. Lee also said the day after being traded to Seattle that he wanted to spend the rest of his career in Philly. It was a miscommunication with his agent is the reason Lee was traded. This rotation is one of the best in Baseball history, but that is just on paper. Fans will have to see the games to know whether or not the rotation plays well.

The good and the Bad so far.
Red Sox’s- Getting one of the best Hitting first basemen in the league. They gave up a stud pitcher called Kelly but Gonzalez is worth it.
Orioles- By getting Mark Reynolds the Orioles have added a major bat to their line up. With their young pitching nucleus, they could surprise people.
Who ever gets Cliff Lee. If it’s the Yankees or Rangers or a sleeper team (nationals.) Who ever gets him, has one of the top five pitchers in the league and the best playoff pitcher.
Bad Moves this Off Season
Giants- yes the world series champs, They let Uribe go to their rival down south the Dodgers, and they resigned Burrell and Huff to washed up old players. If they don’t resign Cody Ross it will be one of the giants biggest blunders since Barry Zitos contract. Also they signed Tejada, even older… He is horrible.
Nationals-Now I understand the Nationals are building for the future but, 7 years 126 million dollars for a five hitter?? They also let Adam Dunn walk. A line up of Zimmerman, Dunn, Werth isn’t bad at all now it’s so-so.
Blue Jays- There is rumors that the Blue jays are trying to get Zach Greinke. So they traded away Halladay to get Greinke???
